University of Manchester Uses NVIDIA Earth-2 to Forecast Air Pollution Across the UK

Air pollution contributed to approximately 30,000 deaths in the U.K. last year. David Topping, a professor at the University of Manchester, collaborated with the NVIDIA Earth-2 team to develop a new AI model for predicting air pollution using advanced generative frameworks. The team utilized the Earth-2 CorrDiff model, trained on data from existing chemistry-climate simulations, and executed it on the Isambard-AI supercomputer in Bristol. The model successfully produced accurate predictions on the first attempt, enabling precise air quality forecasts.
