Chinese researchers chart 5-stage path toward ‘last AI built by humans’

A group of researchers from leading Chinese universities and tech companies is aiming to develop AI systems capable of self-improvement without human intervention. In a joint paper published on Thursday, researchers from ByteDance, Tsinghua University, and the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory outlined a five-stage roadmap for recursive self-improvement (RSI). This roadmap includes multiple stages, starting from prototype creation to implementing systems that can learn from their past experiences. This initiative reflects the growing trend towards developing more autonomous and innovative AI systems.
