Overview
Hermes Agent is an open-source AI agent from Nous Research, published under an MIT licence. It runs as a terminal application and connects to chat surfaces, carrying out multi-step work through a catalogue of skills rather than a single chat box. It works with whatever model provider you configure, so the model and the data path remain your decision. Teams with in-house engineering can read the source, extend it, and run it inside their own systems.
