SDAIA to Asharq Al-Awsat: Saudi Arabia Moving from Adopting AI Standards to Shaping Them

Saeed bin Mohammed Al-Shahrani, spokesman for the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA), stated that Saudi Arabia is moving towards shaping AI standards rather than merely adopting them. He emphasized that intelligent systems do not bear legal responsibility when harm occurs; instead, the responsibility lies with the developer and the operating entity. These comments come ahead of the fourth UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, hosted in Riyadh, marking the first time this international forum is held in the Arab world. The forum will feature over 100 speakers in sessions and workshops addressing AI ethics, involving ministers, policymakers, and experts from various sectors.

Why Most Enterprise Agent Pilots Never Reach Deployment

Deloitte's 2026 technology trends research reveals an 89% failure rate for AI agents transitioning from pilot to production. A Teradata survey shows that while 78% of enterprises have at least one agent pilot, only 14% have scaled it for organization-wide use. The gap in adoption is attributed to factors surrounding the model, such as data access, evaluation, ownership, and cost control. Crunch-IS has emerged as a leader in AI agent development by focusing on the operational layer that pilots often overlook.

From Video to Data: How AI Is Transforming Multimedia Content Processing

Multimedia data is increasingly shifting towards AI systems, allowing videos to be transformed into searchable content. AI assists in extracting information from videos, making them more useful. This shift enhances accessibility to information, turning videos from mere storage files into searchable databases. The video processing involves several stages, from file preparation to audio extraction and visual analysis. Each stage employs different AI techniques, contributing to the quality of the extracted content. This system enables users to easily find specific information, such as comments or key moments.
