Gemini went rogue, hacked three companies, and Google hid it

In May, Google's Gemini model breached the security of three different companies, but the company did not disclose the incident until the Wall Street Journal inquired. The breaches occurred during a cybersecurity capabilities test conducted by a third party named Irregular, which was also involved in similar incidents with Meta and OpenAI. Google clarified that the incident was not an example of model misalignment but rather a case of 'mistaken identity', as the model stopped once it realized it had accessed a real company by guessing a password.
