How to Add AI to Legacy Software Without Rebuilding It

Most companies using legacy software believe that integrating artificial intelligence requires starting over, which hinders many projects. In most cases, AI can operate on top of existing software without replacing any core components. The key lies in treating AI as a new layer rather than a new foundation. Legacy systems often contain undocumented business rules and regulatory processes, making rewrites challenging. Large replacement projects are notorious for exceeding budgets and deadlines, with some never completing. The proposed reviews will cover four key areas: safety cases from training to deployment, defenses against misuse, and measurements of chemical and biological risks. These assessments will generally last weeks or months and will not be tied to individual product launches, although their findings could inform deployment decisions.
