AI Investments Bolster Global Economy Amid Iran Conflict

AI investments have expanded as a buffer for the global economy during the Iran conflict, helping to mitigate the impact of the crisis in the first half of 2026. Ryan Sweet, chief economist at Oxford Economics, states that falling energy prices and AI are key factors supporting the global economy. The IMF noted that demand for AI technologies has partially alleviated the economic repercussions of the war.

Claude Cowork's biggest use case is the mundane office work nobody wants to own, Anthropic says

Anthropic analyzed 1.2 million sessions of Claude Cowork from over 600,000 organizations. The analysis reveals that about half of the usage is dedicated to business processes and text creation, termed by Anthropic as "the work around the work." These tasks include compiling status reports, building onboarding checklists, and creating slide decks. However, software development is minimally represented in Cowork, as developers prefer using Claude Code for that purpose.

OpenAI CEO Altman is now "pretty sure" AI is net job-creating, which is quite the pivot from predicting mass layoffs

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, stated he is "pretty sure" that AI has created more jobs than it has eliminated. This marks a significant shift from his earlier warnings about entire professions disappearing. Similarly, Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, is retracting previous claims regarding AI's impact on the job market. However, current studies indicate that neither the past doomsday predictions nor the optimistic views have materialized yet. This change in perspective may influence how companies approach AI in their hiring strategies. If AI indeed contributes to job creation, it could reshape the job market in the near future.

PHANES AI Writes Touch Into Robot Foundation Models: TouchWorld Tactile Model Enables Dexterous Manipulation

PHANES AI, founded by Professor Yang Shuo from Harbin Institute of Technology Shenzhen, has launched TouchWorld, a tactile foundation model aimed at enhancing robot manipulation. This model addresses a significant gap in current vision-language-action models, which can see if a robot finger touches a button but cannot feel if the button has been pressed.

Every 48 Hours, a New Embodied AI Model Is Born: From BAAI World Model to Alibaba Qwen-Robot

June 2026 saw an extraordinary surge in embodied AI model releases, with 13 new models announced in a single month, averaging one every 48 hours. This trend signals a fundamental shift in the embodied AI industry from hardware capability competition to software intelligence competition, as companies focus on unique technical approaches rather than incremental hardware improvements.

AI agents win at Slay the Spire 2 after researchers replace growing chat logs with structured memory

The AgenticSTS project introduces an alternative to the growing chat logs of AI agents by implementing five separate memory layers. Tested on the game Slay the Spire 2, the prompt remains around 5,000 tokens instead of ballooning past 500,000. The agent wins 6 out of 10 games, while competing agents do not win any.

Dexmal Aims to Ignite Embodied AI Productivity With DM0.5 Model, DexOS, and MaaS Three-Stage Strategy

Dexmal has announced the launch of a comprehensive lineup of embodied AI products, including the DM0.5 model and the DexOS operating system. The DM0.5 model features a 400% increase in data and a 200% increase in parameters, achieving a 50ms inference time and a 25% improvement in inference efficiency. The strategy follows a three-stage rocket model: the first stage focuses on a generalized foundation model, the second on developer tools, and the third on systematic scenario solution capabilities. The DM0.5 achieved a 42% success rate on the RoboChallenge Table30 V2 benchmark, outperforming competitors.

OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra reportedly solves a 50-year-old math problem in under an hour

OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra produced a proof of the Cycle Double Cover Conjecture in under an hour, utilizing 64 subagents working in parallel. This conjecture had remained unsolved for 50 years, and mathematician Thomas Bloom expressed surprise at the proof's elementary nature, while criticizing the lack of citations for known prior work. These achievements raise questions about whether AI merely recombines existing knowledge or genuinely creates something new.
