Anthropic says its Mythos model found vulnerabilities in cryptographic algorithms that secure the internet

Anthropic says its Mythos model found vulnerabilities in cryptographic algorithms that secure the internet

Anthropic has revealed weaknesses in key cryptographic algorithms through its Claude Mythos model. It discovered vulnerabilities in the HAWK post-quantum signature scheme, which had been reviewed by human experts for over two years, in just 60 hours at a cost of approximately $100,000. The findings indicate that current systems are not affected, but they highlight how AI could challenge core assumptions about internet security. This discovery reflects the ability of intelligent models to identify vulnerabilities faster than human capabilities.

Central Banks Face New Challenges Amid AI Surge

Central banks are facing a new monetary paradox due to the AI surge, which is increasing spending, investment, and asset prices, but may later reduce costs. The Bank for International Settlements warns that AI affects both supply and demand, complicating inflation readings and interest rate determinations. The demand driven by AI is already evident through the construction of data centers and the expansion of electrical networks, while productivity gains remain uncertain. The BIS estimates that investment in data centers and AI-related infrastructure has reached about 1% of GDP in the most exposed economies.
