Why health AI interfaces must adapt to user expertise

MIT researchers found that AI explainability tools can yield sharply different results depending on the user. In skin disease diagnosis, non-experts improved their accuracy with AI assistance, while primary care providers performed best when receiving AI predictions without explanations. The study, published in Nature Medicine, highlights how AI interfaces can influence diagnostic accuracy. The findings suggest that while good AI systems can enhance performance in health settings, they must be carefully balanced with algorithmic deference that can lead to errors.

AI Agent Sandboxes: A Guide to Isolation and Secure Execution

This article discusses how AI agent sandboxes function by placing boundaries around their decisions. These boundaries focus on how agents interact with external systems, reducing potential risks. Careful isolation is required to ensure agents do not take unauthorized actions or access sensitive information. These sandboxes are essential because agents can make decisions based on the information they encounter, making their behavior difficult to predict. Constraints must cover multiple aspects, including the execution environment, tool usage, and data access. This complexity necessitates effective isolation that goes beyond traditional infrastructure.
