OpenAI Reports ChatGPT Accounts for 20% of Google Search Volume

Adam Fry, OpenAI's consumer product lead, announced that the volume of search queries through ChatGPT now equals 20% of the volume run through Google. This announcement was made during a press event on Monday, where Fry clarified that a search is defined as any time a user inputs a query that results in a web search. While ChatGPT still has a long way to go before overtaking Google, this figure represents a significant shift in how users engage with search tools. This development indicates an increasing reliance on AI for information retrieval, reflecting a change in user behavior.
