Alibaba's Amap Launches Lambda-0 Humanoid Foundation Model

Alibaba's Amap has launched Lambda-0, the first foundation model for humanoid robots based on open-world human behavior. Developed in collaboration with the ATH business group, this model allows robots to learn walking and coordination without needing a robot present during data collection. The new data collection method employs what is called robot-free data gathering, where collectors wear consumer-grade devices to record their movements in everyday spaces. Experiments showed that this method was more efficient, with a single demonstration taking about 29 seconds to collect, compared to 100 seconds with a physical robot.
