Axera Launches AX8860 Chip Series for On-Site AI Applications

Axera has unveiled the AX8860, a series of 6-nanometer AI chips designed to run large models on factory floors and warehouses instead of distant data centers. The series was presented at CIIF 2026 in Shanghai and is marketed as a compute base for physical AI that must sense, decide, and act on-site. The AX8860 chip delivers up to 256 TOPS of mixed-precision compute with native FP4 support, 273 GB/s memory bandwidth, and 128 GB of LPDDR5X. It supports Axera's AXLink multi-chip cascading and PCIe 5.0 for scaling, along with 64-channel video decode and 16-channel encode for multi-camera vision workloads.
