OpenAI says its Jalapeño chip can power faster AI responses than the competition

OpenAI has announced its new chip, Jalapeño, which achieves higher efficiency and faster response times for AI systems. During a press briefing, Richard Ho, Vice President of Hardware, stated that the chip offers the "best of both worlds" with lower latency and increased throughput. First introduced in June, Jalapeño is an Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) developed in partnership with Broadcom. It is specifically designed for AI inference, meaning it supports running trained AI models.
