China’s J-36 fighter jet designers report danger of military AI hallucinations

Engineers at the Chengdu Aircraft Research and Design Institute, part of China's AVIC, have issued warnings regarding the use of AI models in aircraft design. In a paper published on June 20, engineer Zhang Xianzhe noted that these models could invent aircraft specifications, potentially leading to inaccurate results. These warnings come at a time when reliance on AI is increasing across various fields, including aircraft design. However, the risks associated with generating unreliable specifications could negatively impact aircraft performance and development.
