Samsung and Google are potentially in talks for next-gen AI chip

Google is in talks with Samsung Electronics to manufacture part of its new AI processor. If the deal goes through, it may involve using Samsung's 2-nanometer production technology. According to The Information, Google plans to commission TSMC to produce the main component of its tensor processing unit (TPU) called Icefish. Icefish is still under development, with mass production potentially starting in 2028. If an agreement is reached, it would significantly boost Samsung's manufacturing ambitions, enhancing its efforts to secure more business in advanced chip production.
