Trace n8n workflow and node executions with OpenTelemetry

n8n has integrated OpenTelemetry natively, allowing each workflow execution to be emitted as a trace, enhancing observability. This eliminates the need for a sidecar or patch maintenance and ensures no vendor lock-in due to the OTLP standard. Workflows are now production systems that handle payments, support tickets, and CRM data synchronization. With OpenTelemetry support, n8n becomes a key player in distributed tracing, producing a root span that carries status, duration, and error information for each workflow execution.
