Microsoft has launched a new AI agent within Word, specifically designed for legal teams. The Legal Agent manages document edits and negotiation history, assisting legal teams with tasks such as contract reviews. Sumeet Chauhan, Vice President in the Office Products Group, states that the agent follows a structured workflow based on real legal practices. The agent works on current documents with recorded changes, facilitating line-by-line contract reviews according to a defined guide. This approach ensures that the agent does not rely on generic AI models but follows clear and repeatable steps.
