Binance Reveals $6.3 Billion Breach Involving AI and Fake Interviews

Binance reported a $6.3 billion breach involving fake job interviews and an internal AI tool. The attackers compromised a computer belonging to one of Binance's engineers and used an AI tool to gain control of two other engineers' wallets, executing the attack on October 20. Preparations for the breach began as early as June, traced back to a supply chain attack where an engineer downloaded a tampered installation of a popular AI coding tool found via a search engine. The attackers employed various techniques, including social engineering, to execute the attack.
