Tencent and Visa Expand Partnership in Cross-Border Payments

Tencent and Visa have announced an expansion of their partnership in cross-border payments, following new regulatory approvals for U.S. financial firms in China. Under the memorandum of understanding, the companies will explore ways to facilitate payments for travelers to and from China, while also developing payment solutions through the WeChat Pay and Visa networks. The two companies aim to enhance collaboration via Visa Direct for money transfers, allowing users outside China to send funds to the WeChat Pay ecosystem. This partnership seeks to improve cross-border payments by combining Tencent's AI capabilities with Visa's global network.
