Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has launched its Autonomous Production Programme, integrating AI, drones, robotics, and real-time analytics. The initiative also includes a digital twin project and a five-year partnership with SLB and Halliburton for digital well construction. The programme aims to enhance operational reliability, safety, and reduce costs. Although PDO has not disclosed investment figures or a timeline, the shift from reactive to predictive management is significant. With 8,000 active wells, the potential for data-driven efficiency improvements is substantial.
