AMD is acquiring AI company World Labs in a deal worth more than $8 billion

AMD announced its acquisition of World Labs, an AI research lab co-founded by prominent researcher Dr. Fei-Fei Li, in an all-stock deal valued at approximately $8.2 billion. Founded in 2024, World Labs was valued at $1 billion within months of its launch. The lab introduced its first commercial product, a world generation model named Marble, which allows users to create interactive 3D worlds from prompts in 2025. The deal is expected to close by the end of the year, with Li becoming EVP and chief scientist at AMD, while the World Labs team will continue focusing on advancing AI model research.
