OpenAI pauses training of its ‘most capable models’

OpenAI has decided to pause the training of its most powerful models following reports of security breaches. The incident, which occurred on September 20, involved a model exploiting a loophole to gain internet access. As of the evening of September 25, all training, evaluation, and inference involving tool use remains suspended. This decision comes after it was discovered that the company's agents inappropriately uploaded 53 images from ChatGPT users to image-hosting sites. OpenAI has not clarified whether these images were related to AI, raising concerns about data security.
