Patagonia Emerges as a Promising Hub for AI Data Centers

Tech companies are increasingly turning their attention to Patagonia, Argentina, as a promising destination for building large data centers that support AI technologies. The region benefits from a cold climate and abundant renewable energy sources, making it attractive for hyperscalers facing challenges in global markets. Pampa Energía is exploring the establishment of a 500 MW data center near the Loma de la Lata thermal station, with expectations to finalize agreements by the end of 2026. OpenAI has also partnered with Sur Energy to investigate a clean energy data center with potential investments of up to $25 billion.
