UAE's AI university introduces world's largest 'fully open' models

Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence has launched the K2 Horizon model, which consists of six AI models. This fully open model allows researchers and developers to inspect and improve the technology, according to the university's president, Prof. Eric Xing. The K2 Horizon models were developed at the university's Institute of Foundational Models, with the most powerful being the 375 billion parameter model, designed to compete with leading open-weight models. It also features dynamic model routing, enabling tasks to be directed to the most cost-effective model.
