On Tuesday, the World Bank warned that developing countries have a narrow window to capitalize on the economic gains that artificial intelligence can provide. In its latest report, it stated that countries failing to act could exacerbate AI inequality and weaken public trust. The World Bank compared the emergence of AI to other historical advancements like steam power and the internet, which transformed the entire economic landscape. Co-author Gaurav Nayyar emphasized that without appropriate policies, developing nations risk falling behind in this golden opportunity.
