Google Connects New Transatlantic Submarine Cable Between Europe and America

Google announced the successful connection of a new transatlantic submarine cable in Sinis, Portugal, enhancing data transfer between Europe and America. The 'Novim' cable spans nearly 7,000 kilometers and includes 16 pairs of optical fibers with a design capacity of around 384 terabits per second. The 'Novim' cable is part of a broader vision to enhance Portugal's investments in digital infrastructure, aiming to meet the growing demand for cloud computing and AI services. Georgia Abeltino, head of government affairs at Google Cloud, emphasized the project's importance in supporting the digital economy.
