Google is developing a new server chip that incorporates elements from its AI model, Gemini, aimed at improving the efficiency of AI model operations. The chip, internally referred to as 'Frozen 2', is expected to address the ongoing crisis of computing power shortages that has impacted Google Cloud's client agreements. Alphabet, Google's parent company, anticipates that the new chip could be 6 to 10 times more efficient than its latest AI chips, reflecting significant performance improvements. The new chip is slated for deployment starting in 2028, with engineers still finalizing its design.
