Nvidia Reduces Authorized Asian Customers for AI Chips

Nvidia has reduced the number of authorized Asian customers for its AI chips by over half, following the establishment of a new 'white list' for companies that passed stricter compliance checks.  According to the Financial Times, Nvidia has intensified due diligence procedures in Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan, resulting in the exclusion of more than half of its previous customers, particularly new cloud service providers.  This move is part of a renewed review process, allowing companies that failed the initial review to make changes and reapply, amid U.S. directives aimed at limiting advanced AI chip access to China.
