NHS AI blood test could reduce invasive womb cancer checks

Several NHS hospitals in England are preparing to implement an AI-powered blood test to assess women referred for possible womb cancer. Approximately 90,000 postmenopausal women are referred by GPs annually due to heavy bleeding, with around 10,000 diagnosed with womb cancer each year. Developed by Leeds-based PinPoint Data Science, the PinPoint test utilizes machine learning to evaluate cancer risk from about 30 blood markers. Priced at around £30, it provides clinicians with a risk score that informs whether a patient should be monitored, referred for further investigation, or prioritized for faster assessment.
