NVIDIA Vera CPU Opens the Way for Agentic Scientific AI at Los Alamos National Laboratory

Los Alamos National Laboratory has announced the development of new supercomputers named Mission, Vision, and Veritas, in collaboration with HPE and NVIDIA. These systems will utilize the HPE Cray Supercomputing GX5000 architecture, featuring NVIDIA Vera CPUs and NVIDIA Rubin GPUs, enhancing the lab's capability for scientific discovery. The Mission system will include 2,300 standalone NVIDIA Vera CPUs, while Veritas will feature approximately 1,150 standalone CPUs. These systems will support the Laboratory Directed Research and Development program, accelerating agentic AI for science.
