Google Cloud generative AI automates council planning operations

UK government ministries are deploying Google's AI across local agencies to enhance planning operations. This initiative aims to tackle unstructured data that hinders infrastructure development, with the government setting a target to build 1.5 million homes by 2029. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, along with the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, has expanded machine learning tools to expedite municipal application processing. The rollout of the 'Extract' application and the advancement of the 'Enhanced Planning Decisions' model were confirmed during the Google Cloud Summit in London.
