Google Launches CodeMender API for Cybersecurity Expansion

Google announced at the Google I/O 2026 conference the expansion of its cybersecurity efforts by making the CodeMender API available to selected expert groups. This tool is designed for scanning code, identifying security vulnerabilities, and automatically fixing them. Google first introduced CodeMender last October as an "AI agent for software security." CodeMender is part of Google's strategy to enhance cybersecurity, aiming to improve the efficiency of code scanning through AI technologies. This initiative comes as interest in cybersecurity grows, particularly amid an increase in cyberattacks on organizations.
