Google and Pentagon reportedly agree on deal for ‘any lawful’ use of AI

Google has signed a classified agreement with the US Department of Defense, allowing the use of its AI models for any lawful government purpose. This news follows employee demands for CEO Sundar Pichai to block Pentagon usage due to concerns over inhumane applications. The deal positions Google alongside OpenAI and xAI, both of which have also secured classified contracts with the US government. Anthropic was previously included in this group but was blacklisted by the Pentagon for not complying with its demands.
