Alibaba DAMO Academy Unveils AI Model for Non-Invasive Colorectal Cancer Screening

On April 28, Alibaba's DAMO Academy launched the DAMO COCA model for colorectal cancer screening in partnership with Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital. The model achieved an impressive sensitivity of 86.6% and specificity of 99.8%, as reported in the Annals of Oncology. This AI model employs a two-stage deep learning framework to enhance the interpretation of complex intestinal structures, addressing common detection challenges. The study analyzed over 27,000 CT scans, revealing previously undetected cancer cases in real-world clinical settings.
